Day 1: Magic Kingdom (January 2, 2017)

Our morning started at 5 a.m. when we woke up to catch our flight to Orlando from Baltimore. We made sure to space out enough time to get down to Baltimore and go through TSA without rushing. We made it through TSA with time to spare, so we spent that time getting breakfast at McDonald’s. After breakfast, we headed to our gate and waited for our flight, only to find out our flight was delayed for over an hour due to a windshield malfunction. Eventually, we were able to board our flight and we were on our way to sunny Florida!

Our first stop in Orlando was to our hotel, The Hilton. We checked into our room and settled down for a little bit before heading over to Magic Kingdom to pick up our tickets.

Magic Kingdom was insanely packed due to the fact it was the day after New Year’s. I didn’t think they would still have their Christmas attire up, but to my surprise, it was all dressed up. The park was absolutely breathtaking. Shimmery icicles hung from the castle and purple lights shinned up at it. In the center of Main Street U.S.A stood a tall Christmas tree and nutcrackers surrounding it. As you walked down the street, it was singing with Christmas spirit with all the Christmas wreaths hanging from the light posts.

We grabbed dinner at Cosmic Rays and rode It’s a Small World, Peter Pan Flight, and our favorite, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin. We explored around Fantasyland for a little bit before leaving the park. We tried to exit before “Wishes” ended, but we were unlucky and got stuck in the giant crowd exiting the park.

From the park, we headed back to our hotel and grabbed a few snacks in the little market place. We spent the rest of the night settling down and getting ready for bed. We didn’t get to spend much time in the park due to us getting there late and waiting over two hours to ride Peter Pan, but we met a lot of nice and fun people during our wait (one guy we met was going to propose to his girlfriend during “Wishes”). It was a nice start to a fun week.
